Clos yr Ysgol Play Area Plans

Improvements will soon be carried out at the play area in Clos yr Ysgol adjacent to Alban Road in Llanelli’s Bigyn Ward. The project will be carried out with funding from Llanelli Town Council and the Carmarthenshire County Council administered S106 Fund.

The works which will include installation of a disabled friendly roundabout, new springer and double swing will commence around the 28th May 2024. The play area will be closed for the project works period anticipated to be around 2 weeks.

Town Council Leader, Councillor David Darkin said ‘I’m very pleased that the Town Council and County Council have been able to fund these improvement works to Clos yr Ysgol Play area, the S106 funding was only available to be used at this specific location. The project again shows the Town Council’s commitment to providing the best possible facilities across our Parks and Playing Fields.

Carmarthenshire County Council's Cabinet Member for Planning Policy- Cllr. Ann Davies said: “It’s wonderful to see work commence to improve the play area in Clos yr Ysgol, especially the installation of a roundabout that will be accessible to wheelchair users. The funding to upgrade the play area is drawn from our S106 fund, which is a planning requirement upon housing developers to pay the County Council to provide for amenities in a specific area.”
