The Council is committed to providing services and facilities which meet the needs of the people of Llanelli Town; information regarding these services and facilities is available by clicking on the appropriate link on the left hand side of this page.
The Town Council recognises that it is often appropriate to work in partnership with other organisations and we work closely with Carmarthenshire County Council in a number of areas including the provision of Paddling Pools in Parc Howard and Crown Park during the summer months and the provision of Hanging Baskets in the Town Centre.
The Town Council also works in partnership with Llanelli Rural Council on the Joint Burial Authority; this authority administers the Llanelli District Cemetery - a 32 acre cemetery - located at Swansea Road, Llanelli.
Community and Town councils are the most local level of government in Wales and play an important role in the life of Welsh communities. Representing local interests is another crucial part of the work of Llanelli Town Council; it does this in 3 key areas:
Planning - the Council is a statutory consultee on all planning applications in the town, it also comments on the Local Development Plan.
Licensing – all licensing applications in the Llanelli Town area are referred to the Council for consideration.
Consultation – local, regional and national consultation documents referred to the Council are considered by the Planning, Licensing and Consultation committee.
The Council strives to be a strong local voice acting on behalf of the community and working with others to ensure provision of appropriate local services and amenities.
