The work of Llanelli Town Council was recognised yesterday in the One Voice Wales Innovative Practice Awards.

The event that celebrates the good work of Town and Community Councils across Wales awarded certificates to the Council as follows: 

  • Highly Commended – Best Heritage Project category for work with the Unloved Heritage Project.
  • Commended – Best Youth Engagement Project again for work with the Unloved Heritage Project.
  • Commended – Best Sustainability Project for the work carried out on cancer projects across the Town and with the Tenovus Choir.
  • Commended – Best Devolution of Service or Community Asset Project for the Town Council Asset Transfer programme.

Council Leader, Cllr Shahana Najmi said “I’m really pleased that the work of the Town Council has again been recognised in the prestigious One Voice Wales awards. This again shows that the Town Council is at the forefront of innovative practice within the Town and Community Council sector”.

Town Mayor, Cllr David Darkin said “This recognition of the work of the Town Council is very well deserved, during my time as Town Mayor, I am always struck by the impact the Town Council is having across the area and I am pleased to see this being noticed on a national basis ”.
