PRESS RELEASE - ASSET TRANSFER
Llanelli residents will have begun to see improvements to a number of playing parks across the Town as Llanelli Town Council invests over £14,000 in repairing and replacing play area surfacing and equipment.
With asset transfer now complete, works have commenced at Crown Park, Havelock Park, Parc y Dre and Penyfan Park to improve play facilities at each location.
The Town Council is utilising a maintenance grant received from the County Council on the completion of asset transfer to upgrade facilities and have extensive works planned to improve the changing rooms and pavilions located in the parks.
Having completed Asset Transfer, the Town Council is now also developing relationships and sub leases with sporting organisations at each park in order that they can work in partnership with the Council to maintain and improve the facilities available to the whole Community. Each organisation has been involved in the development of the improvement works planned.
The Town Mayor, Cllr David Darkin and Council Leader, Cllr Shahana Najmi visited the sites to see the improvements in progress.
Cllr Najmi said ‘I am really pleased that with Asset Transfer now complete, we are able to move forward with these badly needed improvements. I am sure that the Community will have noticed the works being undertaken already and I look forward to seeing all the developments completed over the coming months’.
Town Mayor, Cllr Darkin said ‘I was delighted to sign the asset transfer documentation on behalf of the Town Council and am pleased that we as a Council have already been able to carry out improvements to these assets that are so well used by sporting organisations and families across Llanelli’.
