Since 1974 the Town Council has developed a network of seven Community Centres at strategic points throughout its administrative area, namely Glenalla, Lakefield, Llanerch, Paddock Street, Penymorfa, St. Barnabas and Wesleyan.

These Centres are used extensively by the local community for various activities, such as playgroups, birthday parties, meetings, dancing classes, keep-fit classes, etc.

It is also the policy of the Council to grant free use of the Centres to local Senior Citizens’ groups on one evening each week.

All enquiries regarding the hire of any Centres should be directed to the Council (see Contract Us for ways of contacting the Council). Most of the centres were converted from their previous uses, thereby ensuring that some of the town’s historic buildings were preserved for community use. Two of the best examples are Glenalla and Lakefield, both chapels which were saved from demolition by the Town Council.
